Lions battle Mavs

The Dublin Lions took to the Stephenville High School diamond Monday, March 26 to face the Eastland Mavericks.

The game was given a change of venue as the Dublin field was too wet following the weekend and Monday rains.

“We were rockin’ and rollin’,” said head Lions baseball coach Corde Morris. “We got up 4-3.”

The momentum changed after the 4th inning when calls started getting made against the Lions and Eastland got energized.

“I’m proud of our guys,” said Morris. “I’m really happy with the first four innings.”

Morris’ main lesson for future games: “We’ve got to handle adversity better when we get down. We’re trying to build a foundation.”

The game ended 11-4 in Eastland’s favor.

This followed a 13-4 loss to the Buckaroos Wednesday, March 20 when the Lions traveled to Breckenridge.
