Nine Dublin Lion linemen traveled to Hardin-Simmons University for the state Linemen Challenge tournament Saturday, June 21. Although the hometown athletes didn’t take top honors for 3A (that distinction went to Lexington) or place out, their coaches commended them on a great performance in an event Dublin hasn’t been in for many years. Coach John Ward reported the Dublin guys won two of the tug-of-wars before bowing to Clyde. “In all the other stations, they competed well and did a great job,” he said. He also commended coaches Griffi n Fauntleroy and Andrew Norwood in leading the athletes. Competing for Dublin at the state event were: Edwin Nevarez, Luis Elicerio, Westin Rollins, Juan Alvarez, Cayson Loving, Hazin Chacon, Jayden Balvantin, Joe Salinas and Jax Johnson.
