Four Dublin Lady Lion powerlifters are headed to state competition as the team placed third in 3A regional small school meet Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Neff Gym in Dublin Secondary.
Heading to the state meet Thursday, March 19 in Edinburg are: Cassidy Adair, 1st in the 198 with a total of 1,020 pounds lifted (370 squat, 305 bench, 345 dead lift) Jessa Bamber, 1st in the 97 with 570 pounds (225 squat, 125 bench, 220 DL) Bayli Jackson, 2nd in the 242+ with 845 pounds (325 squat, 205 bench, 315 DL) Candy Rodriguez, 2nd in the 181 with 800 pounds (310 squat, 210 bench, 280 DL) Chloe Sullivan and Samantha Martinez also placed high to add to the third place finish. Sullivan placed 4th in the 242 with 580 (210 squat, 145 bench, 225 DL) while Martinez got 5th in the 97 with 445 (175 squat, 85 bench, 185 DL).
Other reqional qualifiers who competed for Dublin were: Annabelle Delgado, Rosa Filio, Nomi Thompson and Hailie Whitworth.
