The Dublin Lady Lions are closing out their first round of District play this week and head softball coach Vanessa Longoria is hopeful the experience gained will lead to strength in the second half of the season.

“I’m hoping that once we start to replay teams we come out playing hard and not afraid,” said Longoria. “The girls have now seen they can compete with these teams so I’m hoping we have better outcomes.”

These comments come after last week in which the Lady Lions hosted Breckenridge in a 14-0 loss on Tuesday, March 19 and traveled to Comanche Friday, March 22 for a 16-1 loss to the Maidens.

In the Breckenridge game, Chloey Rollins, Cassidy Adair and Yasmin Esparza each snagged a hit.

In the Comanche game, Adriana Stewart stole three bases while she, Jaylee Black, Rollins and Esparza each scored a hit.

The Lady Lions had no errors in the field during the Comanche battle.
