The Lingleville ISD School board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Curt Haley effective this summer.

The acceptance followed a long executive session in Thursday’s regular meeting. The board also accepted several contracts and tabled the contract of Tammy Coan following the executive session.

The board also reviewed concerns about the public water system with board member Brent Hallmark reporting parents coming to him about the taste of the water.

Haley reported that the minimum of treated water is .2mg/L of chlorine and maximum is 2.2 mg/L. The school tries to go between .7 and 1.7, but testing has ranged between 1.1 and 1.6. He added that they try not to go too low in case a pump has problems and fails.

It was reported that filters wouldn’t work but a softener could be installed between the well and injection pumps. The matter was tabled for more input.

Principal DeeCee McDougal presented the TAPR report with testing results showing several successes in the higher grades but areas to improve in lower grades based on testing results. McDougal reported that COVID closures affected younger grades more and assured that plans are already being implemented to combat the issues.

She also said that LISD is aiming to improve areas where the school is meeting the state average. “We want to excel,” she said.

Emily Howle also was present to report on successes from the LISD athletic booster club, adding that she will aim to provide regular reports now that the organization is growing in support with 36 backing organizations and 14 of those platinum level. Among their accomplishments was providing all students and staff with playoff shirts and providing meals for all student athletes during the season.

The board also approved secondary insurance for students, adopted the TASB, Risk Management Fund agreement, approved wage payments during emergency school closings and approved the annual agreement with the Greater Erath County SSA.

The board also voted to establish a committee to talk about improving athletic facilities. Lingleville ISD is hosting an Athletic Facility meeting for community members and parents at 6 p.m. on March 22 in the cafeteria.

The meeting began with several people speaking in public forum. Raina Carpenter said she has not been contacted by board members or administration since raising issues about student conduct. She complained that the school had multiple disciplinary problems that were unaddressed and issues like inappropriate comments from male students to female students.

Teachers Alexa Garrison and Kelly Davis thanked the board and administration for their support, saying they have paved the way for successes in the classroom. Nurse Jeanie Faught asked about getting notes or prescription for over-the counter medications that are provided by parents and dispensed by the school.
