Dublin teams lift bronze

The Dublin Lions and Lady Lions snagged third place team finish at the Justin Monk Invitational Feb. 5 at Henderson Jr. High in Stephenville.

The bronze for the girls came partially from first place finishes by Samantha Martinez and Chloe Sullivan in the 97 and 242 classes respectively. Martinez lifted a total of 425 pounds (160 squat, 85 bench, 180 dead lift) while Sullivan lifted 550 (200 squat, 125 bench, 225 DL).

Also adding to the team placement were: Candy Rodriguez, 2nd in the 181 with a lift of 770 (300 squat, 190 bench, 280 DL) Bayli Jackson, 3rd in the 242+ with a total of 775 (290 squat, 185 bench, 300 DL) The third place boys finish was achieved by the following finishes: Paul Adams, 3rd in the 114 with a total of 705 (260 squat, 160 bench, 285 DL) Yovany Ortiz, 3rd in the 123 with 690 (250 squat, 165 bench, 275 DL) Cayson Loving, 3rd in the 165 with 1130 (420 squat, 225 bench, 485 DL) Tony Ortiz, 3rd in the 242 with 960 (365 squat, 245 bench, 350 DL) Jayden Balvantin, 3rd in the 275 with 1250 (490 squat, 305 bench, 455 DL) Juan Elicerio, 4th in the 275 with 1145 (440 squat, 265 bench, 440 DL) Jayden Rojas, 5th in the 275 with 1145 (450 squat, 225 bench, 475 DL) Dublin lifter Juan Alvarez also got a total of 1145 in the 275 but placed 6th while Luis Elicerio claimed a first as the sole entry in the SHW class with 1110 pounds lifted.
