January is a busy and important month at Dublin Secondary School, with multiple assessments and academic checkpoints taking place to support student success and readiness for state testing.
On January 19, 2026, high school students will participate in TELPAS practice sessions in their TELPAS-designated classes. These sessions will help English learners strengthen language skills and become familiar with assessment expectations. TELPAS practice will continue again on January 26 to reinforce student preparedness.
Benchmark testing is a major focus throughout the month. On January 20, students will complete the English I Benchmark, along with the 7th Grade Reading Language Arts (RLA) Benchmark. The English II Benchmark will be on January 21, and 8th Grade Social Studies students will be tested on January 22. The month will conclude with the 8th Grade Science Benchmark on January 27. In addition, TSI testing will take place on January 22nd to help identify college readiness for eligible students.
Benchmark assessments play a critical role in determining which students may need additional academic support prior to state testing and in identifying potential summer school placement. Students are encouraged to take these assessments seriously and use results as a tool for growth.
Students are also reminded to stay proactive about their future by completing scholarship applications and registering for post-secondary exams such as the TSI, SAT, and ACT.
As flu season continues, Dublin Secondary School encourages everyone to wash hands regularly and take preventive measures to reduce the spread of germs. Additionally, attendance remains crucial-excessive absences can negatively impact academic success and may also be a factor in summer school eligibility.
Dublin Secondary School appreciates the hard work of students, staff, and families in supporting academic excellence and student well-being throughout the month of January.
