The Dublin Lions scored their first win of the season this past week in the Coleman tournament as they continued to grow as a team.
The victory came when the Lions went 16-10 against Brady thanks to solid pitching by Jose Lopez and Cooper Pickett leading offense with a 3-run home run.
“As a team, we hit the ball well and played solid defense,” said Dublin Lions head coach Brennan Harris.
The Lions went 1-2 in the tourney overall following a7-5 loss to Coleman and a 7-6 loss to Windthorst.
Harris was proud of his team, saying this showed improvement against teams who had previously beat the Lions 14-0 and 14-3.
This tournament appearance followed a 4-1 loss to DeLeon Feb. 28.
“Zak Loper did a great job on the mound going all 7 innings and only allowing two earned runs,” said Harris of the home game. “We played great defense behind him with only one error. Ayden Vargas scored the only run of the night on a passed ball.”
