Dublin golfers hit up the Hideout Golf Club and Resort in Brownwood for the first district tournament Monday, March 25.

“We hit several types of weather on the district opener,” said DHS golf coach Wes Grisham. “The kids competed well considering the weather and course conditions.”

Clouds from overnight storms were still present as golfers arrived and practiced with some light rainfall and cold conditions, followed by sunshine and occasional wind. Slick grass and the occasional puddle were also present to interfere with ball travel.

Lady Lions Bailey Watson and Jennave Villaro hit a respective 117 and 161 with Watson “in the mix for medalist to compete for regionals,” according to Grisham.

Senior Lions Dane Lewis and Charlie Rasberry led the Dublin boys shooting a respective 107 and 108. Hayden Milburn shot a 115; Cameron Patton shot 121 and Jace Mendez shot 126.

The Dublin golfers will play their second round of district Monday, April 1 at Canyon West in Weatherford.
