Michael Wayne McFarland, 73, passed away on December 8, 2020 in Sherman, Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 4 p.m. at the Old Dublin Football Stadium in Dublin, Texas. (Masks are required at service.)
Mike was born on January 8, 1947 in Elvins, Missouri to his parents Amos Vernon McFarland and Betty Jean (Fleming) McFarland. He married the love of his life, Beth (Lampman) McFarland, on March 22, 1968 in Alvarado, Texas. Mike was a United States Army Veteran and was honorably discharged on May 26, 1971.
He was the owner and operator of McFarland Grocery for about ten years. He worked for Mrs. Baird Bakery for more than twenty years before retiring.
He was a substitute teacher at the Dublin Elementary School Campus and was known as “Mr. Mike”. His overall favorite job was being a Papaw to his two grandkids. Mike served as a deacon for the First Baptist Church in Dublin, Texas. He also served on the Dublin School Board and had been a member of the Lions Club.
He is preceded in death by his father, Amos Vernon McFarland.
Mike is survived by his wife Beth McFarland of Dublin, Texas, his daughter and son-in-law Shana and Ryan Roberts of Dublin, Texas his granddaughter Rylie Roberts of Galveston, Texas, his grandson Ty Roberts of Dublin, Texas, his mother Betty McFarland of Park Hills, Missouri, his brothers and sisters-in-law Dave and Donna McFarland of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and Danny and Mary McFarland of Park Hills, Missouri, his brothers Terry McFarland of Park Hills, Missouri and Bruce McFarland of Park Hills, Missouri and numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
