Laverne (Ware) Hiett, 92, left this earth July 3, 2024 in Borger, Texas. She was born Jan. 7, 1932 in Littlefield, Texas, to Emett and Annie Ware.

Laverne graduated from Wellington High School in 1950. She was a dedicated homemaker, bookkeeper and floral assistant. Throughout her life she was known for her love of sewing, cooking, especially her fried chicken. She had a green thumb and her love of flowers was passed on to her many children.

She loved taking care of her children and opened her arms and home to many as she raised her own.

Laverne married the love of her life, Perry Wynn Hiett, July 29, 1950, in Wellington at the Baptist Parsonage. She was a lifelong Baptist and was saved and baptized at Buck Creek at the age of 12, through a revival.

To this union they were blessed with three children.

Survivors include children: Sharon Hiett of Borger, Texas, Karen (Hiett) Wilson and late husband John K Wilson of Sonora, Texas and James Robert (Jim) Hiett of Borger, Texas; chosen daughter, Shelly Moseley and her husband Dwayne of Wolfe City, Texas; grandchildren, Wyndi Veigel-Gaudette and husband Paul of Dublin, Texas, Heather Helbert Patteson and husband Michael of San Antonio, Texas and greatgrandchildren, Hailey Fontane and Saige Akkerman; sister-in-law Myrt Ware; Myrt’s daughter, Denise (Ware) Breshears and husband, Lance and their son, Brett Breshears; Myrt’s sons, Todd Ware and his wife Ruth and Brent Ware; brother-in-law Gary Hiett and wife Wauleen of Wellington, Texas, their children, Kevin Hiett and Randa and children, Lawson and Eli and Jennifer Hiett Henard and her husband, Tal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Wayne Ware and Larry Ware and his wife Rose and son-in-law John K.

Services were held at Saturday, July 6 at Brown’s Chapel of the Fountain) followed by interment at Wellington Memorial Gardens in Wellington, Texas.
