It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Freida Gayle Riley, who left us at the age of 71, on April 8, 2025.
Born on March 7, 1954, in Brownfield, Texas, Freida was a devoted wife, mother, and Granny. Always full of joy and with a contagious laugh, she had a unique ability to bring light to every room she entered. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she met, and she was loved dearly by all who knew her.
Freida’s love for her family was unwavering. She was a loving wife to her husband, John, for 52 years, and cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. Freida took great joy in watching her family grow and thrive, and she always made sure that her home was a place of love and laughter.
A gifted quilter, Freida shared her talent with everyone she loved. All who received a “Granny made” quilt were blessed by her thoughtful and loving gift, a warm reminder of her creativity and care.
She is survived by her husband, John Henry Riley, her sons Keith Riley and wife Kerry of Dublin, Texas, Jason Riley and wife Becky of Denver City, Texas, and her daughter Jennifer Horton and husbandMichaelof Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Justin and wife Makayla, Jacob, Grayce, Daniel and wife Brooklynn, Zada, Charity, Miles, and Greenli, as well as her greatgrandchildren Daenerys, Eli, and Eleanor.
Freida was preceded in death by her parents, Quida Howell and Dick Maines, her stepfather Clint Howell, her brother Larry LaBadie, and her stepsister Edna Howell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Double N Cowboy Church, located at 7202 Hwy 6, Dublin, Texas. Family and friends will gather to honor Freida’s life and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
Freida will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her joyful spirit will continue to inspire all who remember her.
