Joe B. Cooper Ill, 70, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Joe was born Aug. 20, 1951, to Lorey and Joe Cooper, Jr., and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, he married Debbie Jones on July 14, 1973. He worked for AT&T, formerly Southwestern Bell, and retired as a marketing manager after 27 years of service.
Joe and Debbie then moved to Gustine, Texas to enjoy country life on their ranch, and in the process, he found a new career.
During his tenure as the first General Manager of Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District, Joe served the Texas groundwater community in various capacities, including serving as President of Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts (TAGD) in 2016 and 2017, on the board of Texas Water Conservation Association, and on the hiring committee for the past three TAGD Executive Directors.
After 18 years of dedicated service in October, 2021, Joe retired from Middle Trinity GCD. During the last two years, Joe enjoyed his new home and backyard haven with his wife, Karen.
Survivors: Wife, Karen Cooper; sons, Joe B. Cooper, IV and wife, Erika, Robert B. Cooper and wife, Tricia; brother, Alan Cooper and wife, Debbie; sister, Carol Lanier and husband, Sam; brother-in law, David Jones; and five grandchildren, JB, Andrew, Lukas, Colton and Camilla.
Memorials: May be made to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
Funeral services were Friday, July 8 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth, followed by interment at Greenwood Memorial Park.
