Scotty Bray

November 7, 1942 – March 8, 2026 Scotty Bray was born on November 7, 1942, in Stephenville, Texas, to Harry and Gwen Bray, who instilled in him the values of hard work, humility, and integrity that guided him throughout his life.

He spent many years working in the Texas oil fields with ARCO (Atlantic Richfield) before retiring in 2000 and settling in Dublin, Texas.

Scotty and Lenora shared a life full of adventure. They spent many days making memories fishing and traveling together, visiting places as far as Alaska and the 1996 Olympics.

Horses were at the heart of Scotty’s world. He devoted countless hours to mentoring young riders through 4-H and working with children in the TREAT program at Tarleton State University.

Scotty is survived by his devoted wife, Lenora (McKandles) Bray, and his daughter, Shannon Jo Bray. He leaves behind three beloved grandchildren: Jacob Hinojosa, Bobby Hinojosa, and Faith Pritchard.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Howard and Billie Luhning and husband, Bryan. His extended family includes his brothers-in-law, James McKandles and wife Joan, Curtis McKandles, and his sisters-in-law Sharon McKandles and Glenna McKandles.

He is further survived by his nieces and nephews: Dana and Michael Herod; Monty and Monica Ray, and their children Veronica Ray and Everett Ray; David McKandles; Michael McKandles; Myrna and David Smith; and Mark McKandles.

Scotty also treasured several special family members: Rex and Cindy Gordon, and their children Adam and wife Sallie, and Marisa and Codi Halbur; as well as Kathleen and Mike Pritchard.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 28, 2026, at Double N Cowboy Church in Dublin, Texas.
