Bertie Blanch (Martin) Berry, 87, of De Leon and formerly of Hamilton, peacefully passed away Monday, September 7, 2020. She was born to Berry Lewis Martin and Sallie Blanch (Stenson) Martin on February 18, 1933 in Hamilton, Texas. Bertie married Andy Levi Berry December 21, 1946.
Bertie was a long-time beautician and devoted homemaker for her family. She and Andy lived in many different communities including Dublin and De Leon throughout their marriage, but they always considered Hamilton their home.
Bertie was a member of Hamilton Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed many hobbies including quilting and sewing, cooking, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was always her happiest when spending time with her family.
Bertie gained an extended family the past two years while a resident of De Leon Nursing and Rehab. She loved the kind and nurturing nurses and her many loving neighbors and friends there.
Bertie lived a wonderful life full of love and kindness and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Glinda Lou Herrin and husband, Mike, and Debbie Darnell Fleming and husband, Gaylon; grandchildren, Michael Herrin, Timothy Herrin, Sharon Coan and husband, Ricci, Tina Jobe and husband, Donnie, Melissa Heaslet, and Randy Heaslet and wife, Sonja; greatgrandchildren, Alexandria, Aaron, Marshall, Thaddeus, Lucy and Fred Harrin; Joseph, Marie, Leia, Mikayla and William Herrin; Jordan, Jodi and Andrew Coan; Randy Heaslet, Jr.; and Paige and Bryon Jobe; g r e a t - g r e a t granddaughter, Rayvn Palmer; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Bertie has been reunited with her loving husband, Andy Levi Berry; parents, Berry and Sallie Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Dottie Martin, Omar and Dorothy Martin, and B.L. and Lora Mae Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and David Berry and Della and JB “Bunk” Berry; and greatgrandchildren, Patrick Herrin, T.J. Heaslet and Andy Heaslet.
Graveside funeral services celebrating Bertie’s life were held Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in Gentry’s Mill Cemetery with Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating.
Pallbearers were Donnie Jobe, Ricci and Andrew Coan, Randy Heaslet and Randy Heaslet Jr., Michael, Marshall and Aaron Herrin.
