The Dublin Lions showed fierce fight on Friday and Saturday facing Comanche and Breckenridge after a weeklong break without practices due to the ice storm.

On Friday, they faced a tough 60-46 loss to the Indians at Comanche.

“We came out strong against a physical team especially coming off a week long break without practices,” said Dublin’s head boys basketball coach Wes Grisham. “The 4th quarter was the game changer and [we were] only allowed to shoot 1 free throw in the 4th. Comanche made big shots in the 4th quarter to win.”

Ayush Patel led Lion scoring with 19 points followed by Dalan Rasberry with 12 points.

Kaden Gaitan scored 9 points; Aiden Salyer had 4 points; and Aureliano Ruiz had 2 points.

Dublin returned home Saturday with a close 61-54 loss to Breckenridge.

“We had another close one against Breckenridge; this time they pulled out a win at the end,” said Grisham. “We’ve had a hard time maintaining momentum all year and it seems like we can’t shake it. The first half was great. We had some younger guys come off the bench to make plays happen and maintain the lead.”

“The second half had glimpses of good offense but just couldn’t put it through the basket,” he continued.

Dublin was down by 3 with 30 seconds left in the game, but a foul was called on the Lions. The Buckaroos made their free throws, allowing the visitors to pull away safely and secure the lead.

Rasberry led Dublin scoring with 18 points followed by Patel with 15 points.

Gaitan had 7 points; Kevin Patton scored 4 points; Alex Teten had 3 points.

Hunter Jones had 3 points and Aureliano Ruiz and Sev Ruiz had 2 points each.
