Erath county citizen have a temporary reprieve on outdoor burning in the county as County Judge Alfonso Campos has temporarily lifted the ban until noon on Friday.
The burn ban lift is based on the determination that the fire danger and circumstances identified in the original burn ban which was put into place May 23 currently do not exist.
Outdoor burning is only permitted for those in unincorporated portions of the county, not in Dublin or in Stephenville, according Emergency Management Coordinator Cyndi Smith.
“Everyone must call the sheriff’s office before they start burning,” she said.
Call 254-965-3318 prior to starting any burning.
If a controlled burn gets out of control, call 9-1-1 immediately to get assistance.
Someone must stay with burn piles while flames are visible and no flames should be visible after dusk.
The Erath County Fire Marshall and other county officials will continue to monitor the fire danger situation daily.
