Construction to move ahead in Comanche nursing home

Ground will be broken soon by Comanche County Medical Center on a new nursing home.

The boards of directors of the Comanche County Consolidated Hospital District (CCCHD) and CCMC announced recently that $3.5M in new funding was committed towards the cost to construct the planned new long-term care center.

The funding allows for the release of the funds through the USDA-backed construction loan, paving the way for them to break ground soon, with the date to be announced.

Significant charitable support has been received in cash gifts and pledges from several board members and their spouses, from both CCCHD and CCMC, and the Comanche County Healthcare Foundation (CCHF). Leadership donors in the community have committed to contribute to the fundraising campaign, A Legacy for Generations, co-chaired by John and Ginger Dudley of Comanche.

The CCHF 17th Annual Dinner and Auction fundraiser, to run Labor Day Weekend through Sept. 17 is expected to raise additional new funds.

Outreach to the community is ongoing in hopes of receiving individual and organizational donations to help defray costs to furnish and equip the facility, support future programming and other needs.

“The support for this project from across our health system has been truly amazing. We are very grateful to our leadership boards and donors in the region who are helping us get this important facility built,” Dr. Larry Troxell, CEO, said.

The new nursing home will provide a much-needed long-term care option for those requiring a high level of care. It will be managed by the health system and operated not-for-profit. Medical and rehabilitation services will be right next door, on the main CCMC medical campus in Comanche. Many new healthcare jobs will add to the local economy.

The Legacy campaign volunteers are continuing to reach out to the community. For more information, or to donate, contact the CCMC Office of Business Development, 325-488-4124, kbremer@comanchecmc.com.
