DEAN
Andrew Johnny Grant Dean, 21, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 after succumbing to injuries from a motorcycle accident that occurred on Monday.
Andrew grew up in Tennessee, where he learned the meaning of having a volunteer spirit. He and his family moved to Texas just before his senior year of high school, and with plans to continue with further education, he decided to work hard and get good grades.
All of his hard work paid off in May of 2019, when he graduated from his high school as valedictorian. Looking for a way to serve his community, he joined the Erath County Volunteer Fire Department. It was there that he found his calling, and a brotherhood that he had always wanted.
Never one to do anything halfway, Andrew worked hard as a volunteer firefighter.
In 2021, he was awarded Rookie of the Year for Erath County VFD. He went on to get his EMT certification, after which he worked as a full time EMT for the City of Dublin, and part time for Erath County EMS. Andrew was working on getting his fire certification, and had plans on following in his big sister’s footsteps by becoming a paramedic.
Andrew was preceded in death by his grandparents Arlen Pippin, Betty and Charlie Dean, and Donald Fishler. He is survived by his parents Andy and Debbie Dean, siblings Faith and Christina (Cissy) Dean, LJ Whites, Tye Fishler and family, Amanda Dean and family. Also survived by nephew Logan Fishler, grandmother Jennifer Fishler, and uncle Curt Smith.
Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Cowboy Church of Erath County. The celebration of life service was held at the same location Monday, Aug. 8.
There was a funeral procession afterwards from the Cowboy Church of Erath County to the Dublin EMS station, and then returned to the Erath County Fire and Rescue facility. A private graveside was held for Andrew following the procession, where Last Call for 844 went out.
A non-profit organization is being formed in memory of Andrew to benefit Erath County Fire.
