Funeral procession to honor fallen first responder

Services for fallen volunteer firefighter, Andrew Dean will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8 at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.

The service will be officiated by Todd Brown, and Pastor Werth Mayes. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. that will also be held at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.

Following the service on Monday is a funeral procession from the Cowboy Church of Erath County heading south on highway 67/377 to the Dublin EMS where Dean worked. The procession will then proceed north on 377/67 to the Erath County Volunteer Fire & Rescue facility in Stephenville where it will end.

The route will travel up Blackjack from the Dublin Loop, turning on south Park and Elm before passing the Dublin fire station/EMS on Grafton. It will then turn on Blackjack and travel north on Patrick back to Stephenville. Anyone wishing to honor his memory is encouraged to gather on the route to pay their respects.

Motorists should be prepared to give the right-of-way to a long procession of family, friends and first responders as it passes through.

A private graveside is planned for Dean following the procession.

Dean served for Erath County Volunteer Fire & Rescue for a little over a year and a half.

He joined the Dublin EMS two months ago full time and worked part time for Erath EMS.

Dean completed his emergency medical technician (EMT) certification four months ago.
