De Leon’s city council recently discussed rebuilding the bathrooms at DeLeon’s City Park.

Toney Prather was present from DeLeon’s Type-B Economic Development Corporation, and reported that the EDC would take charge of the rebuild, including providing funding.

He said that the EDC planned to turn the current non-working bathrooms into two unisextype bathrooms.

A message from the Hamilton County Chief Appraiser Heather Donahoo regarding the office closure due to Covid was included in the paper.

“Many of our local taxpayers are aware that the appraisal district has been hit with another wave of Covid. Only one of our employees has avoided the new strain while the remainders of us are in quarantine. In an effort to keep the community safe and the guidelines set forth by the CDC the appraisal district was forced to temporarily close.”

The note stated the office would reopen July 18 and cases would be resolved where possible.

The city of Comanche and Comanche County are members of the TEX-21/377 Corridor Coalition in an effort to remain strategically aligned with the neighboring communities sharing US Hwy. 377 and plans to manage the traffic growth. Comanche County Judge Stephanie Davis and City of Comanche Mayor Mary Boyd along with other officials are planning to attend an open meeting on July 29 in Granbury to discuss transportation concerns and growth. The first in-person meeting will be at the Lake Granbury Conference Center in Granbury on Friday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tim Nesbitt, Project Manager with Civil Associates, welcomes a packed room Wednesday during the kickoff meeting for the US 281 Widening Project and Hamilton Relief Route Feasibility Study.

While the introductory meeting was intended for elected officials, several land owners were in attendance.

Nesbitt’s presentation included area maps, goals and objectives, environmental constraints and crash maps, solution and alternative exploration, design criteria and schedules.
