Volleman’s Family Farm has a day of fresh fun set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as it invites the public to celebrate the grand opening of its creamery at 15400 Hwy. 36 in Gustine.
The 17,000 sq. ft. facility was just expanded with more cooler space to increase outreach as the provider of fresh milk from their own dairy in glass bottles serves more stores across the state.
“We invite everybody to come take a look,” said owner Frank Volleman, who is able to trace his family’s history in the dairy industry to 1890. “We want to make it a day of fun for the whole family.”
There will be games and bouncy castles for kids and a free lunch will be provided under a tent for guests of the event. Calves will also be onsite for people to pet and school buses will be available to take guests on driving tours of the dairy.
Guests can sign up to tour a portion of the plant during the opening so they can see how the family operation and its 40 employees bring in milk from the dairy and prepare it for the customer. (For sanitary reasons, guests cannot enter certain portions of the plant.)
Guests will be able to get a taste of all of Volleman’s flavors including original, chocolate, strawberry, cappuccino and banana cream and buy bottles of their favorites. The facility also bottles heavy cream and orange juice, made with 100% Texas oranges.
The opening will begin with guest speakers and announcements at 11 a.m. followed by the free lunch.
