The second annual Cross Timbers Classic charity golf scramble is set to tee off Friday, July 1 at Squaw Valley Golf Resort in Glen Rose.

“We are looking forward to a day of fun,” Cross Timbers Family Services Executive Director Laura Gambino said.

The tournament benefitting Cross Timbers Family Services will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Erath County United Way is partnering with CTFS for the event. Check in begins at 7 a.m.

There are several ways citizens can help including registering as an individual player or team, sponsoring the event, donating to the raffle and silent auction, becoming a hole sponsor or volunteering at the event.

For those interested in playing as a team, registration is $500 for four players which includes breakfast, lunch, cart, green fees, goodie bags and waters.

For a single player, fees are $125 each and also includes breakfast, lunch, cart, green fees, goodie bags and waters.

The format for the tournament is a four person scramble and the tournament’s goal is $20,000.

Those at the tourney will have a chance for some terrific golf themed prizes including a new set of clubs

(Cobra King Forged Tec Irons set) valued at $1,200 in a silent auction and raffle items such as a Cobra Ultralight Stand Bag and a Cobra LTDx Driver.

There are also certificates for PAR Country Club, The Hideout Golf Club and Resort, Legends Country Club, Split Rail Links and Golf Club, Rolling Oaks Golf Course, Squaw Valley, Cleburne Golf Links and Nutcracker Golf Club.

Prizes for the closest pin and the longest drive will be awarded. Those interested in registering for the golf tournament can go to crosstimbershelps.org and look for the Cross Timbers Classic button.

For those unfamiliar with Cross Timbers Family Services, the nonprofit aids Erath County citizens and the surrounding counties in a variety of ways including helping victims of violent crimes, family violence, sexual assault victims and child abuse victims.

The mission of Cross Timbers Family Services is to enhance safety and justice by preventing domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes in the communities through empowerment, advocacy, awareness, and action for social change.

Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day including emergency food and shelter for crime victims.

Established in 1991, CTFS assists with protective orders, crime victim compensation, community event volunteering, confidential counseling services, counseling internship programs, crisis services, medical, legal and judicial accompaniment, office assistance training, personal advocacy, information and referrals, transportation to and from court proceedings and a victim assistance program.
