James Yates of Hamilton defeated Robert Looney in the Republican Primary Runoff for Hamilton County Judge May 24. Yates will take office in January since there was no Democratic candidate.

Monday was a day of great celebration as more than 300 Hamiltonians gathered to dedicate the Hamilton County Veterans Memorial on the beautiful grounds of Hamilton County Historical Museum.
Designed by Riley Gardner Memorial, the monument includes three laser-engraved black granite pillars surrounding a granite marker topped by an eagle on a hexagonal perch. A walkway of commemorative bricks has been started.
Elaine Polster, a Hamilton Soaring Club student and instrumentrated pilot, obtained her Commercial Pilot’s License in glider on March 19 and then on May 12, she completed her commercial pilot license in airplane.

Comanche Roping Club is going all-out in 2022. Throw-back to the “Good Ol’ Days” on June 17-18. Free admission for all ages! The event is fully sponsored by 5G Land and Cattle. The free admission will get guests two wild nights of old time rodeo action, complete with traditional grand entry. There will be a Saturday after-noon parade and then straight to the Comanche Roping Arena for awards and good ol’ western rodeo fun.
Jams in June is a music event held in historic downtown Comanche every Thursday in June from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The music and event are free. The year’s schedule is Dylan Mata on June 9, Caleb Sutton on June 16, Cason VanGundy on June 23 and Matthew Ryan on June 30.
