Music video spotlights DHS

The halls and faces of Dublin High School are featured prominently in a music video released on May 20.

The video is for Analiese Jessen’s “Miss Melancholy,” a song about the pain of always being overlooked, but viewers who know the school won’t be able to overlook the many Dublin teens (and letter jackets) who grace the video and familiar filming locations including hallways, locker rooms, a school bus, the gym and the cafeteria as it was transformed with lighting and choreography into a prom.

Analiese plays both ‘Miss Melancholy’ as well as the girl who always seems to get the limelight and honors like prom queen. Standing at her side as the lucky girl in many scenes is recent Dublin graduate Colton Moore who didn’t know he would be featured so heavily when the video was filmed last September.

Since he was getting a prime spot, Moore was the only DHS student to meet Analiese the first day she was at the school but said they didn’t really talk all that much.

“They somehow picked me to be the prom king,” he remembered. “It felt like I was going to be in a movie.”

That feeling of performance was inspiring enough for Colton that he got involved with One Act Play this year in a major role of its staging of “The Book of Everything.”

Colton’s mother, Lindsay, remarked that watching the video was a little weird since it makes it seem like her son and the singer are in a relationship but thought that the crew, singer and students performing all did a good job in putting together a professional music video and a time capsule of Dublin high School in 2022.

“It was very cool experience for all of the kids,” Lindsay said. “I don’t know why she picked Dublin High School, but it’s something neat for all of them.”
