The Lingleville School Board officially approved LISD Principal DeeCee McDougall as the new superintendent in a special meeting Monday night, following a regular meeting where other new contracts were approved Thursday.
The vote to approve McDougall was unanimously decided by those present on Monday. (Jay Procter, Sonya Koke and Tyler Howle were absent.)
During the Thursday meeting, board members and those in the audience were introduced to Taylor Harris and Parker Smith. Harris is a transfer from Dublin ISD who was being considered as 3rd-5th grade math teacher and Smith, who has been working for Stephenville, was being considered for the head volleyball coach position. Both contracts were unanimously approved following the executive session.(Howle and Koke were absent)
Board Members also voted to form an athletic facilities committee and allow them to have an open dialogue with the superintendent on decisions and needs.
Coach Steven Bailey presented a prioritized list decided by this committee including a 20x30 metal building including (in order) concession stands and two single-stall bathrooms for the football field and outdoor event, new stands with a press box for the field, a weight room including locker rooms, a training room and agility space, a track (which would also serve as the site for a new football field, and tennis courts).
Board members cautioned the committee to make sure the plans will work in the future and think about placement on the campus. Bailey and Lingleville Athletic Booster Club officer Emily Howle responded that plans are being made with the future needs of the school in mind.
The committee approved included the following members who had shown consistent participation: Bailey, Howle, Ty Johnston, Jim Bays, Micah Chandler, Armandina Vasquez, Robert Kellar and Ty and Angela Pack.It was also decided that members can be removed or added by a vote of the committee.
Howle also delivered a LABC update, announcing that the booster club had put $13,500 back into items for kids and students after restructuring and getting active. She asked for permission to keep meeting at the school and keep the relationship open between LISD and LABC and the board agreed.
Board members also unanimously agreed to update the contract with Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson as special counsel in collecting delinquent taxes for the district. The firm has reportedly been handling the matter for many years and was asking for a new contract to include all the addendums already in place since the last formal contract.
The board also approved a budget amendment of $65,000 for personnel salaries.
