Anjelica Salyer
“Volunteering at the school has helped me to see just how amazing our teachers and staff truly are,” said Anjelica Salyer, who is running for her second term on the Dublin ISD School Board. “My goal as School Board member is to be an advocate for teachers staff, students, and parents.”
“Running for re-election for School Board is not a decision I take lightly,” she continued. “I believe the School Board is responsible for making decisions that will serve in the best interest of ALL students in the district, and that as a board, all members need to work together to create a vision and set goals for the district, as well as having transparency with the community.”
Although Salyer has only been on the board for the past three years, she has been a familiar face to many at Dublin ISD for several years
“I have actively been involved with the Dublin School District long before I was elected as a Board of Trustee member,” she reported. “Ever since my kids began attending Dublin ISD, I made it my propriety to be involved with the school and organizations within the district by volunteering in the classroom and at various events.”
When not volunteering, Anjelica and her husband, Jeff, operate Salyer Farms.
The independent business means that Anjelica is a “lady of many hats,” which has helped her learn to juggle various responsibilities and motivate her to be involved in the community.
“Depending on the day of the week, I am a household CEO, transportation coordinator, tractor operator, master chef, bookkeeper, and most importantly, MOM,” she said, referring to the Salyers’ children Aiden and Olivia.
Anjelica has lived in the Dublin area for 37 years and is proud to call it home.
“The thing I love the most about living in Dublin is our small-town community and how everyone always comes together in a time of need,” she said. “Our school district not only puts our children first, but also helps our community in many ways. For example, during the pandemic, the district purchased all school supplies for each student in the district and provided them with meals to relieve any additional financial strain on families.”
Salyer stresses that teachers should be taken care of, because they are the key to students’ educational growth and success. She would like to see more parent involvement where the teachers and parents come together for the wellbeing of the children of Dublin ISD.
“I have enjoyed serving as a board member for Dublin ISD for the last 3 years,” Salyer said. “Contributing to decisions that benefit our students and the community has been very gratifying and something I am proud of. If re-elected as Board of Trustee, I will continue to be an active voice for the teachers, students, parents and community.”
