Habitat for Humanity breaks ground

Body

The Stephenville Chamber of Commerce celebrated Habitat for Humanity’s newest building with a groundbreaking ceremony. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds houses in partnership with qualifying families, using as much donated material and labor as possible. Erath County Habitat for Humanity then sells the houses at no interest and no profit. CHH President, Stacy Morrison explained what the empty lot would eventually become: a much-needed office warehouse for their team made up completely of volunteers. Morrison spoke about the history of the Habitat for Humanity chapter, spanning 25 years in Erath County and helping 23 families. Morrison thanked the many sponsors for their building, many of them donating and discounting supplies needed for the construction of the warehouse. “Thank you for making the dream of home ownership and staying in homes for those that are aging in place a priority,” Morrison closed. ECHH always welcomes donations of material as well as volunteers to help with their building projects. For more information about ECHH, visit bit.ly/SCOC-ECHH.
