Dublin Police reported that Jesus Manuel Deleon, 60, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 in the 400 block of West Valley in Dublin.
The victim in the incident was Dora Santa maria Hernandez, who was Deleon’s ex-girlfriend, according to Dublin PD.
Authorities arrested Deleon at the Eagle Pass border crossing in Maverick County at approximately 11 a.m. on March 30.
“He had actually entered into Mexico and returned to the border to turn himself in,” Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray reported
Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray and Sgt. Khris Jennings reportedly drove to the crossing to pick up DeLeon and transport him back to the Erath County Jail.
Deleon was charged with murder and his bond was set at $1 million.
Deleon was named a person of interest in the incident because he was reportedly witnessed driving away from the scene in a black Ford F-150 pickup that was found abandoned in Hamilton County on Monday, March 28.
“The help of the Texas Rangers and the resources of the state were invaluable,” Chief Ray said, adding that the assistance of all the local agencies helped in providing a quick resolution.
