Steps taken to new EMS home

Body

The Dublin City Council voted to get plans drawn for a new EMS building and to demolish the existing building following a brief tour of EMS facilities in the regular Monday night meeting.

EMS Director John Tadlock showed the council around the small portable building that acts as bunks for those on call. He reported that the door had to be replaced recently after falling off and didn’t know the age of the building, saying it was a FEMA trailer donated after Hurricane Katrina.

Council also surveyed the rock building and bays with a giant hole in the floor and roofing leaks noted.

Tadlock and City Manager Bobby Mendez reported that the city had $540,000 in accounts that could go towards construction with the possibility of assistance from the county.

The council also approved the voluntary annexation of 37 acres on the North end of town after Mack Stewart approached the city about a portion of the land he purchased. The approval opens the doors for two public hearings that must be held before annexation can be fully accepted.

It was also noted that one portion with drainage problems is expected to be turned into a pond/park and deeded back to the city.

The Council also approved the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department to declare old air packs at $0 to be donated to other causes and approved the re-plat and reclassification of 304 W. Harris as a neighborhood business for Blanca Lopez to build and open a salon.
