CCMC donations top $1 million

A check for almost $70,000 presented last week to the Comanche County Hospital form the Comanche County Healthcare Foundation brought value of equipment purchased for the hospital to more than $1 million.

That total has been raised by the foundation since it was founded some 17 years ago.

The latest donation was to fund a glidescope for surgery with a retina camera.

That tops a long list of equipment funded by the fundraisers held by the foundation each year with the one this past September being a huge success, thanks to the many people from the area turning out to support the cause.

Other equipment purchased over the years include a bladder scanner, an anesthesia machine, ultrasound equipment, 3d mammography, portable x-ray machine, operating room equipment, pulse ox machine, ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, stretchers, and the list could go on and on.

Everything purchased is for patient care.

The Foundation also works with the hospital to secure grants.

A spring fundraiser is now being planned with briskets, ribs and pork loins cooked by local grill masters being sold. More information will be announced on that fund raiser in the next few weeks.

The fall fundraiser is also being planned for the third Saturday in September.
