During a special meeting on Feb. 7, the Erath County Commissioners Court heard the results of the audit for the fiscal year ending Sept. 3, 2020.
BMY’s Jeremy Shell presented the audit, noting that the county had significant deficiencies and material weaknesses in getting timely reconciliations of bank statements.
Shell said the issue was expected as the county administration had been working to rectify the issues in the last year.
“I have confidence that these issues will be addressed going forward,” Shell said.
It was also noted that this audit was under the previous system which had issues. The county switched over to the new system two months into the next fiscal year, so the next audit will largely be under the new system.
