Comanche Chief

Comanche Electric Cooperative Association recently made a donation of 50 new backpacks, hygiene kitsm school supplies, new fleece blankets and 54 pillows and cases to CASA in the Hart of Texas. The donation was made as part of “Operation Roundup,” a community service program funded by the members of CECA who round their bill to the nearest dollar each month with the extra cents going towards non-profit organizations in the community.

It was reported that Kim and Clint Cooper were renovating the historic building on the corner of Rice and Henry to open a restaurant named Woody’s (after a long-standing Hamilton sheriff), which will serve burgers and fry fare.

Hamilton art and drama teacher Melissa Craig and four of her students volunteered at the Hamilton Community Center on Jan. 24, where they guided community members in creating paintings.

Hamilton Police Chief Brad Boulton recently celebrated one year In the position.

Hico News-Review

Hico’s water was announced safe on Feb. 1 following a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality test in West after 10 days under a boil notice caused by a broken water line.

The DeLeon Ministerial Alliance reported that over the Christmas season, they assisted 99 families total with food or toys or both. There were 55 of those families with children and 169 kids total assisted.

The 7th grade boys basketball team remained undefeated after the Hamilton Tournament appearance which included wins over Hico (38-12), Hamilton (42-33) and 4A Lampasas (40-39).
