Two Comanche High School athletes received academic all-state honors. They were: Aaverie Seegmiller, 1st Team Football Academic All-State and Reagan Harris, 2nd Team Football Academic All-State.
David Spiller, state representative for District 68, was in Comanche County earlier this month and visited with the DeLeon Lions Club during their meeting.
The following Comanche High School band students qualified for the ATSSB All-Region Band: Korbin Grimes, Tuba, 1st Chair Honor Band; Matthew Till, Percussion, 5th Chair Honor Band; and EmmaLee Barnett, 12th Chair Symphonic Band.

Neil Maxworthy, vice president of the Hamilton Healthcare System Board of Directors, was named to the president role following the death of former president Bill Craig on Dec. 29, 2021. Craig’s widow, Karen, was appointed to fill her husband’s position.
Hamilton FFA’s Ag Mechanics team took top honors at the Fort Worth Stock Show for their trailer. Team members were: Dawson Melde, Taylor Long, Mia Coker and Jaydon Watson.

During the regular Hico ISD board meeting on Jan. 17, the school board hired Shelli Stegall as Superintendent to coincide with the planned retirement of Jon Hartgraves on June 30, 2022. Stegall, 53, graduated from Grady High School in 1987 and earned a Bachelors in Education from West Texas A&M, a Masters in Education Administration from Lubbock Christian University and a Superintendent Certification from Lamar University. She has been with Hico ISD for 18 years serving as Junior High Principal from 2005-2010, High School Principal from 2010-2019 and assistant superintendent after that.

DeLeon High School senior Julie Ivey received an NROTC Scholarship on Dec. 15. Ivey will attend San Diego State University and will graduate in four years as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
