Erath County Judge Alfonso Campos and County Commissioners issued a burn ban on Monday due to current dry conditions.
Violation of the ordinance restricting outdoor burning is a Class C Misdemeanor, punishable by a fee of up to $500.
Exceptions include outdoor cooking in appliances with a containment lid or necessary welding in a total welding enclosure on sites free of vegetation that also have a water pressure fire extinguisher and a minimum of 25 gallons of water on site.
