Gordon Hallon of Baylor University was selected by the Associated Press as an honorable mention pick for the All-American Football Team. Hallon was the son of G.L. Hallon.
Mr. and Mrs. T.S. Salyer purchased the Dublin Cafe from previous owner, J.L. “Archie” Aldridge.

Coach Cecil Toliver announced that Paul Warner and Alan Traweek had been named All-district First Team selections while Mike Jurney was named an honorable mention pick.
A total of 38 guests were in attendance for a special banquet at PAR Country Club honoring the 30-year postal service career of Dublin Postmaster Delbert Shafer. Shafer was set to retire on Jan. 7, 1972.

Dar Anderson, owner of Dar Anderson Dairy, was selected to receive the Sam Walton Business Award sponsored by the Wal-Mart Foundation. Anderson was nominated for the honor by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Don Stewart was presented with Golden Wings to signify his distinction as a gold expert skydiver after having been on more than 1,000 free falls. Stewart actually completed his 1,000th sky dive in 1975 when he was in college as he jumped with the Galveston Sky Divers at Hitchcock.
