Former Hamilton Police Chief Anthony Wayne Yocham has been indicted for continuous sexual assault of a child according to information from the Texas Attorney General’s Office. He was reportedly indicted by a grand jury in June 2021 with a trial set for Sept. 26, 2022

The 2021 DeLeon Lady Cats volleyball team claimed the Area title after defeating Ranger in Dublin on Nov. 4. The DeLeon Lady Cats Cross Country team took fifth place as a team in state with an average time of 13:10 on the two-mile course at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Hiram Smith was present along with DeLeon Mayor Jan Grisham and DeLeon City Administrator David Denman to commemorate the new “Hiram Smith Community Park” sign raised at the community park.

A ribbon cutting was held at Corbi and Gerald Schaak’s Farm to Market Vintage and Gifts store at 141 N. Texas. It is open Wednesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Comanche Chief

Comanche High School graduate Sue Albin Magers was among those being inducted into the Tarleton Rodeo Hall of Fame on Nov. 10 at the Tarleton Rodeo Arena. Magers was born into a rodeo family and became known as a barrell racer.

Family members of Comanche’s Volleman Dairy traveled to Washington, D.C. recently as part of the Farm Credit Fly-In. The family shared their story and products with members of Congress, including District Representative August Pfluger.
