Sunday is Halloween and Dublin has many fun activities to help get Dubliners into the spirit, including a costume contest and safe trick or treating on Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Dublin Citizen and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a costume contest with winners competing for bragging rights and Dublin Dollars. Four prizes will be awarded: Best Children’s Costume, Best Adult’s Costume, Best Group or Pair Costume, and Best Pet’s Costume. Winners will receive $25 each in Dublin Dollars, redeemable at any participating Dublin Chamber member establishment. Those looking to enter should send a picture via Facebook messenger to Dublin Citizen or email composing@dublincitizen. com. Winners and pictures will be printed in next week’s Dublin Citizen!
Deadline to enter is 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.
Safe Trick or Treating returns tomorrow (Oct. 29) from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Local businesses are again encouraged to decorate and open their doors to little princesses and goblins (and their parents and grandparents). Dublin Lions’ Club members will assist with crossing streets safely.
New this year, local businesses that are not located downtown may bring their offerings and fearsome decor to the “Haunted Hogan’s Alley.” Each business may set up a booth or auto, decorate as desired, and provide treats. One such business, new Chamber member Texan Guns and Gear, can be found by following the dinosaur tracks down the Alley. They have promised goodies for the kids, and a raffle for a $100 shopping spree for the adults. That means it’s definitely time to discover some dinosaurs!
As in past years, many downtown merchants will wear their own costumes to maximize the fun.
Dublin Masonic Lodge 504 on (205 E. Elm) will be having an open house and Halloween event from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Local entrepreneurs will be offering residents rides on the Haunted Hayride or the chance to participate in the Hocus Pocus Escape Room. Both will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 and 30 from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit https://dublinhauntedhayride. wixsite.com/website. Space is limited.
