The Independent Banking Association of Texas presented MCBank with a 2021 Best of Community Banking Award, earning the Bronze Eagle Award for its response to the pandemic.
The Hico Police Department was offering rewards for information into burglaries that occurred on the night of Saturday, Oct. 16 or early morning on Oct. 17. The burglaries took place at the corner of Star St. and N. Mesquite at a residence where tools were taken and at multiple businesses on N. Second St. where numerous denominations of cash were stolen. Those with information were asked to call 254-459-9246 or 254-796-4545.
The Hico Marching Tiger Band advanced to Area after scoring a Division 1 rating in Regional competition on Oct. 16 in Mineral Wells.

Winners were picked in the American Legion Cunningham Post 222 hay bale decorating contest. The contest drew 93 entries with proceeds going to the post for a war memorial to be placed at the Hamilton County Historical Museum. First place went to the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department for a bale decorated with a cartoon dog firefighter cutout and fire fighting equipment. Second place went to Lawson Implement’s depiction of Iwo Jima while third went to the Hamilton Jr. High and High School’s humorous depiction of “Shrek.” People’s Choice went to Johnny and Teresa Clepper, who had a design in memory of the 13 soldiers who were killed with the recent withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Clay Barlow spoke at the DeLeon City Council meeting, announcing he had purchased the former BBQ restaurant building in the 100 block of N. Texas St. on the east side of the S-curve. Barlow said he plans to open a familythemed restaurant that will be open at night.
Following high placement at the District competition, DeLeon sent the following cross country runners to regionals: Tayci Weaver, Claudia Chavez, Haley Reed, Daisy Otwell, Jenna Otwell, Jessica Otwell, Tayla Rainwater and Adam Perez.
The Comanche Chief The Comanche High School Marching Band was awarded a Division 1 superior rating at the Regional contest for the fourth consecutive year of competition, earning them a spot in Area competition on Saturday in Denton.
Earlier this month, Randy Magers was recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association for his 50 year of breeding horses. He will be formally recognized during the AQHA breeder banquet at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Feb. 27, 2022.
Hope Masonic Lodge #481 of Comanche presented a 70-year membership pin to Preston Cox on Saturday.
