Tarleton Star Party Friday

Body

Tarleton’s College of Science and Technology’s annual Star Party returns in person at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Hunewell Ranch observatory.

The event is open to the public.

Visitors will see stars, planets and deep space objects through Tarleton’s 32-inch reflecting research telescope and several smaller scopes. Amateur astronomers are encouraged to bring their own telescopes, set up on special concrete slabs and share their view.

Tarleton faculty will conduct tours inside the observatory, giving guests a closer look at the research telescope.

The rainout date is Friday, Nov. 5. For up-to-date information, including cancellation due to weather, call 254-968-0523.

Ideal night sky viewing occurs when conditions are as light free as possible. Participants are asked to turn their headlights off as they approach the observatory parking area.

Visitors arriving at the gate of Hunewell Ranch will be directed to the parking area.
