BROWNWOOD
Water lightly stained; 72 degrees; 0.56 feet low. The water is beginning to cool down, and we should see Fall fishing patterns coming soon. Largemouth bass are good with perch like crankbaits, brown or green Texas-rigged plastic worms, chartreuse bladed spinners, and shaky head jigs near timber, rocky shorelines, and docks. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and near bridge pilings. White bass and hybrids are good on slabs, swimbaits, and live bait along the main lake channels, humps, and ridges. Look for birds diving over feeding schools of white bass. Catfish are good on shrimp, chicken liver, and live bait.
GRANBURY
Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 0.01 feet low. Water temperatures are in the mid to upper 70’s, and the fishing is good for many species. Largemouth bass catches have been good to excellent, 7 pounds, typically on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics on a Texas rig worked near main lake points and many in the back of sloughs and up in the river. Sand bass continues to be good on many areas of the lake on slabs, and spinners fished in 10-15 feet of water near channel ledges. Look for schooling fish on the surface. Striped bass are feeding next to these schools of sand bass, looking for an easy meal. Live shad or slabs are putting striped bass to 10 pounders in the boat, with most of the fish being caught on the lower ends from Decordova to the dam. Crappies are good to excellent on small minnows and jigs in numerous places, generally near structures like standing timber or bridge pilings, with some catches in the back of creeks. Catfish are good to excellent on cut shad on many areas of the lake. Night-time catfishing has been good.
POSSUM KINGDOM
Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 0.53 feet low. Sandbass are good near Peanut Patch and Broadway. Striped bass are located from South D&D to Broadway and are biting on pony head jigs with a white curly tail trailer trolling with downriggers. Live shad is also effective in catching striped bass from Bee Creek to Hogs Bend in 15 to 30 ft of water. Catfish can be found in heavy brush using cut bait. Crappie bite is fair.
PROCTOR
Water lightly stained; 76 degrees; 0.99 feet low. 1 foot low. Sand bass and hybrid striper are fair on 1/2 ounce slabs. Black bass are slow on purple worms. Catfish are fair drifting in the main lake and at the very back of Onion Valley on jugs. Crappie are fair on jigs in 12-15 feet of water.
