Nature Fest, an educational outreach event put on by the Prairie Oaks Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist program, will be held Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It will be held at the Bosque River Trail Nature Center located in Stephenville, Texas , at the end of East Long Street. Some of the other organizations that will be there are Dinosaur Valley State Park, Lake Brownwood State Park, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Tri -Beta Biological Honor Society (TSU), and TSU Chapter of the Wildlife Society. It is free and will be a great experience for people of all ages.
Official Texas Bluebird Society (TBS) nestboxes will be available at Nature Fest or by contacting Peggy Tolboom (254)445-3436. These bluebird nestboxes are designed to meet the demands of the Texas environment and will last for many years.
Autumn is the time to put up new nestboxes and clean out older nestboxes to provide a space for native cavity-nesting birds. Nest boxes cost $30, or $20 with a TBS membership. Plenty of information about bluebirds can be found at: TexasBluebirdSociety.org.
