After 18 years of business, Ed and Evelyn Williams announced the closing of E&E Resale Store this month. The couple started the store in 2003, selling used furniture and appliances as well as wide varity of estate items.

Hamilton County issued a burn ban to go into effect on Oct. 1 after noticeably dry conditions in the county.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church celebrated its 135th anniversary in a celebration on Sunday, Oct. 3. The event featured a catered meal, videos from the church’s history and a presentation by guest speaker Rev. Yohannes Megsteab.

More than 60 quilts were shown in the recent Quilt Show sponsored by the DeLeon Area Historical Society. Names of donors during the event were stitched into a featured quilt from th 1920’s. Those donations were being taken for the building fund at the Baptist Church. John and Ingrid Nabors demonstrated how fabric was traditionally made during the event.

Comanche County was listed at number 5 on a top 10 list of rural Texas communities to move to on the Youtube Channel, The World According to Briggs. The channel, which boasts nearly 700,000 subscribers, cited Comanche’s home prices, the presence of Comanche County Medical Center and PAR Country Club for its selection.

The Chief highlighted construction going on within the town including expansion at Brookshire’s Grocery Store, renovation around the gas pumps at Allsup’s, renovations at Comanche Tire, a new building being built next to Willis Towing and the sale of 802 W. Central that used to contain a portable building and is being cleaned up.

The Comanche Pow-Wow Cookoff gathered 25 teams to participate. Grand Champions were Dustin and Sherri Land from Brady while Reserve Champions were Bobby and Sherry Haggerton from Big Spring.
