The line extended for blocks as parents and kids gathered for free school supplies and backpacks given away by the E:210 and Hico Minesterial Alliance on Aug. 7.
The Hico Tigers were in full gear on Aug. 7 as they held the intrasquad scrimmage at Tiger Stadium. The athletes were trated to fresh watermelon after the scrimmage by The Hico Booster Club.

The Hamilton Public Library will host a come and go Open House today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will give the community a chance to see the recent library renovations and expansion and learn what else is in store. Hamilton’s Brody Rogers exhibited the reserve grandchampion bred-and-owned bull at the 22nd Annual VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo in Kansas City on July 7.

The 2021 DeLeon Peach and Melon Festival royalty was announced with this year’s winners including: Queen Madison Whitesell, Junior Miss DeLeon Marion Gonzales, Little Miss DeLeon Addison Lorta, Petite Miss DeLeon Makynlie Ryon and Miss DeLeon Kenlee Smith.
DeLeon native and former Bearcat quarterback Joshua Brownlee was named Hunter Elite State Champion at the Texas ASA Federation State Archery Tournament held in Paris, Texas las month. Brownlee was also named Hunter Elite Shooter of the Year and won the Oklahoma State Tournament in 2019.
Rev. Kaiya Kershaw joined DeLeon’s First United Methodist Church last month as its new pastor.
