This week, I wear my “sales” hat. While I know I don’t have to sell anyone on Dublin or how remarkable our community is -- I do need to sell a few of you on sponsoring the Hispanic Heritage Festival, coming up Sept. 17-19.
Next week, we begin putting out 4,000 posters in a 100-mile radius and purchasing advertising. To maximize the benefits you receive by sponsoring, you should jump on the train now so your name gets out there in a big way. Let me know if you’d like to learn more.
Check out our Facebook page for the Festival weekend schedule. Sponsorships include $10,000 (gasp, and no, we don’t have any yet … but ever hopeful!) … $5,000, $1,000, $500, $250 and $100 (amigos.) There’s a long list of benefits you receive at each level, and you can find those also on the Facebook page or by contacting the Chamber.
“What is Dublin’s Hispanic heritage?” Half of our community’s residents have a rich Hispanic heritage, and that’s cause for celebration! Let’s honor our residents’ culture, Dublin festival-style.
Ranch Rodeo on Friday Night
Experience the Friday night Ranch Rodeo at the Dublin City Park (want to see your kids mutton-busting or calf “scramblin”?) Bring the family. No outside coolers allowed, and alcohol will be served only to adults 21 or over with an official wristband.
Our Sept. 17 rodeo will be a RANCH rodeo, complete w i t h sorting, doctoring, rescue race and … wait for it … WILD COW MILKING. Enter a team, or just show up and enjoy the show, brought to you in part by Bradberry’s Best. (Please note, there will be a separate event, a UPRA rodeo, the week before on Sept. 11. It will be produced by the Diamond Cross Rodeo Company.)
Festival Action Downtown on Saturday/Sunday
Saturday (downtown) is chock full of excitement, with a parade, trail ride, folklorico dancing, dancing horses, trick roping, Mexican food cooking demonstrations, salsa contests (the eating kind), great music and dancing. Bring a lawn chair. No outside coolers allowed. Alcohol will be served only to those wearing an official wristband.
The Sunday “Christ Across Cultures” event is shaping up to be a great one. Let us know if your congregation or praise group would like to be involved.
Soccer Tournament at Dublin City Park Saturday
First National Bank of Dublin, De Leon and Gustine will sponsor the Hispanic Heritage Festival Soccer Tournament, Saturday Sept. 18 at the Dublin City Park. Have a 7-on-7 soccer team? Enter to take home the trophy and top prize!
Let me know if you want to have a booth downtown
Are you a Dublin Chamber member? If so, you may have a complimentary booth downtown during the Festival. Display your wares, sell your products or tell people about your business. It’s our way of adding value to your Chamber membership. Let me know by Sept. 1.
If you are not a Chamber member, booths are only $50 (no electricity) or $100 (with electricity). Reserve your booth by Sept. 1. After that time, booth rental fee will increase by $50.
The Chamber’s role is to improve business for Dublin. How can we help local businesses reach their goals? I’m at 110 S. Patrick and 254/300-6263, and look forward to hearing your insight. The Chamber Welcome Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
