Hello again, Dublin. We have been busy here at the Chamber, working on behalf of Dublin businesses.
Last week, I joined Karen Wright, Dublin Economic Development Corp., and Orion Gallagher, Things Celtic, in attending the Golden Nugget meeting in Early. This group is made up of chambers of commerce leaders, tourism directors and others who are all from the smaller communities in the area. I learn so much from these meetings … and am able to take advantage of shared opportunities on behalf of Dublin commerce.
For instance, this year Dublin will have the opportunity to promote our area events, landmarks and specialty stores at the State Fair of Texas. It is always rewarding when we can get the word out about what we have to offer.
I was able to attend the Comanche “Salt, Lime and a Good Time” event last weekend, promoting Dublin. They hosted a wellorchestrated margarita and salsa/dip competition, and it was quite successful. A Dublin Chamber member, Sister2Sister Catering of Comanche, took home (shared) top honors in the salsa/dip contest. Congratulations!
Do you have any friends in car clubs or who love cars? Invite them to town for the “Spin Your Wheels on Hwy. 6” event, Sept. 11. They will start in Dublin, attending the September 11th 20-year anniversary remembrance ceremony at the Frontline Heroes Museum or shopping in our local businesses. Then, they’ll join a cavalcade of other car enthusiasts en route to De Leon for lunch and a visit at the Terrell Antique Car Museum, and then travel on to Gorman for the Peanut Festival.
Make sure and invite your visitors to reserve a room at one of our wonderful local motels: Relax Inn or the Dublin Central Inn. They’ll love the hospitality they receive!
Let me know if you want to have a booth downtown
Are you a Dublin Chamber member? If so, you may have a free booth downtown during the Sept. 17, 18 and 19 Hispanic Heritage Festival. Please contact me if you want me to reserve a space to promote your business or sell your products, downtown where we will have all the action. Your booth will be located either in Hogan’s Alley
“Mercado” or on Elm Street (which will be closed for the event.)
We are still meeting each week at City Hall to plan and work out details for the Hispanic Heritage Festival. If you would like to be involved, please let me know or just join us!
Weldon Branham, First Baptist Church pastor, will be working with area Christian leaders to plan the Sept. 19 Sunday Christian Fellowship Event. We are looking for churches (both Spanish and English speaking), praise groups, Christian bands and singers to join the fellowship. We are also seeking someone to manage the home-made salsa making contest on Saturday Sept. 18.
Take a moment to check out the Facebook Dublin Chamber of Commerce page. You’ll find details of upcoming activities, sponsorship opportunities and other local businessrelated content. Take a moment to “like” the page, so we can keep you apprised of the latest.
My purpose is to renew focus on the business community of Dublin. How can we help local businesses reach their goals? I’m at 110 S. Patrick and 254/300-6263, and look forward to hearing your insight. The Chamber Welcome Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
