Dublin’s third Dollar Day specials were listed. Businesses such as Higginbotham Bros & Co., Dublin Drug & Jewelry, NOVIT Cash Store, Hoffman’s, East Side Grocery Co., Wilhite & Fulford and Overton Drug Company advertised items that would be on sale. The third Monday of every month was an event through the Chamber of Commerce and was a big success for businesses participating and merchants were determined to make the 3rd Dollar day more successful than the last.

Mr. Lee White (of Dublin) and Harry Huddleston (of De Leon) were elected as directors of the National Peanut Council. The Council was a twin program for advertising and research to protect the South’s peanut industry.

The Sunset Café listed their specials. Fresh Water Catfish was served with French fried potatoes, combination salad, hush puppies, tartar sauce and hot rolls and was priced at $1.50. A Small club Steak was served with French fried potatoes, combination salad and hot rolls and was priced at $1.65. Chicken Fried Steak was served with French Fried Potatoes, combination salad, cream gravy and hot rolls and was priced at $1.50.

Sikes Movieland listed new movies. New flicks included: Bio-Dome, A Boy Called Hate, Father of the Bride Part 2, The Journey of August King, Lawnmower Man 2, Sabrina, Sudden Death and Two if by Sea. Sikes Movieland was open seven days a week from 10 til 10. The ad informed people looking for familyoriented movies to look for the blue and white dove. Movies marked with this symbol were free of an explicit sex, graphic violence and profanity.
