June 12 brings the return of Dublin’s summer celebration including the popular Irish Stampede 5k, the Tour De Agua bike ride and the Hearts Home Dublin Area Reunion.

Irish Stampede 5K

Dublin Lions Club will once again host the annual Irish Stampede the second weekend in June in honor of local dairy farmers since June is dairy month.

The run, a 10-5-2K race, will be on a certified course with the 10 and 5K races to start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 12, and the 2K race to follow when the other races are complete.

Registration will take place Friday night and start again at 6 a.m. Saturday.

The first 200 entries will receive a specially-designed t-shirt and medal. The top three winners in different age categories will receive prizes, including cash and drinks from Dublin Bottling Works.

All runners will receive Core milk products and a goodie bag from local merchants.

The Irish Stampede has been going on for the past 20 years but was forced to cancel last year due to the pandemic.

Registration is $30 per person. Registration can be found online at https://runsignup.com.

Tour De Agua

The TourDe Agua is returning for the 10th year with proceeds going towards organizer Kids Across Cultures’ mission of providing education, medical support and clean water to places around the world that need them the most.

This year’s ride is tempting adventurous bicyclists with a 38.5 mile route around the area with the first wave of riders departing from Dublin Secondary School at 7 a.m. Riders are invited to take another lap if they would like.

Organizers reported that the course remains on pavement, primarily utilizing scenic and lightly traveled country roads. “Distance, more than anything, will determine the degree of difficulty, as the course consists of rolling hills, intermittent flats, and an occasional leg-burning climb,”said the event’s website. “Safety will be given highest priority with experienced SAG, and rest stops at strategic points.”

The event will also include a nighttime Gotta Love Gravel event with cyclists hitting the pavement in 40 and 60-mile courses starting at 5:30 p.m. Registration fees are $40 for either route or $75 for both.

Riders will be treated to an ice cream float upon their return.

Dublin Market Days

Saturday also marks the return of Dublin Market Days offering a variety of homemade and homegrown goodies, crafts and gifts.

Organizers expect a bunch of vendors—and new ones, and enjoyable weather.

Live music will be at the pavilion from 10 a.m.-Noon and will enhance the fun. Organizers said they welcome nonprofit booths—like youth group, school, or community organization fundraisers. Dublin Area Reunion

The Hearts Home Dublin Area Reunion is also returning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 12 for anyone that has ever or wanted to call Dublin home.

The event is once again hosted by the Dublin Historical Society with support from Dublin National Bank, but has a change of venue this year. Neighbors are invited to join together in the events center between First National Bank and Dublin Dairy Queen on the north side of town.
