Hico ended its 2020-2021 school year on June 3 with the graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 6. A photo of a few of this year’s graduating seniors was on the front page of the newspaper with the caption of “Nostalgia Walk”. The graduating seniors walked the halls of the elementary school in their caps and gowns as the younger students cheered them on.

The Comanche Chamber of Commerce is hosting a concert at the Comanche Roping Arena on June 12. Performing will be Morgan Myles, Ariel Hutchins and Scott Hayley before the main concert starring Aaron Watson. Tickets are $30 if bought online, $35 at the gate. This event is BYOB and no glass containers are allowed. Food trucks will also be present and guests are encouraged to bring their own seats. Gates open at 5 p.m.

The longest Hamilton County Dove Festival Queen’s reign will come to an end on August 28th. Due to COVID-19, Lainey Hale was the longest reigning Dove Festival Queen, being crowned in 2019. Those wishing to enter the pageant can pick up their packets at the Hamilton Herald office. The early entry deadline is July 30 and regular entry deadline is August 13. Age Divisions included Baby Miss (newborn to 18 months), Tiny Miss (18 months to 3), Sweetheart (3 & 4 year olds), Little Miss (5 & 6 year olds), Junior Miss (7 to 9), Duchess (10 to 12), Princess (13-15) and Queen (16-18). A mandatory rehearsal and information meeting is on August 21, 6p.m. at the Hamilton High School.

Comanche County Medical Center will be bringing new treatment to the community in the future to help people with Diabetes. The new treatment is called Diabetes Relief Infusion Therapy and representatives of CCMC went to Houston to study the effects and talk to patients who were going through the treatment. This type of treatment can be used on insulin-resistant patients before the onset of diabetes. The therapy can also be used for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. CCMC will be one of the many health providers who will provide data about the therapy; presently on around 70,000 cases of this treatment have been observed.
