The De Leon Senior Center was re-opened on Wednesday, May 12. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunch will be served at 11:30 with curbside pickup still available. The new director of the Senior Center, Elsa Pacheco, advised that on Tuesday’s there would be a potluck lunch with games and puzzles beginning May 18.

The Texas Steak Cook off will be returning in 2022. Because of COVID-19 beginning in 2020, the 18th annual Texas Steak Cook off was postponed and will start again May 2022. With the postponement of the event pushed to next year, several board members are passing the torch to newcomers. Outgoing board members include: Britt Holt, Gary Brister, Roy Ward, Jon Hartgraves, Kenny Giessner, Lloyd Huggins, Jerry McAdams and Eddie Needham. These members were a part of Hico’s Original Texas State Cook off which began in 2004. New board members are Shelli Stegall and Sherry Schane.

A photo of new Hamilton Mayor Rodney Craddick was on the front page after he took his oath of office last Friday. City Secretary, Misty Boatright, administered the oath to Craddick and several new councilmen.

The Comanche Junior Rodeo was held last weekend at Comanche’s Rodeo Arena the Miss Rodeo Comanche contest winners were pictured. Winners were Faye Whitehead (Princess), Ryleigh Rodrigues (Princess) Mckinnzey Hidrogo (Jr. Queen) and Montana Ferguson (Miss Rodeo Comanche).
